Steinbeck's introduction to "The Thinking Dog's Man" by Ted Patrick, was issued separately in advance of the book as a promotional item; no copies were for sale. This copy once belonged to veteran Milwaukee bookseller Harry Schwartz (the mailing envelope bears his address). A fine, fresh copy in the original printed mailing envelope of this very scarce Steinbeck "A" item.

Born Margaret Oliphant Wilson (1828 - 1897) was a Scottish novelist and historical writer. She usually wrote as Mrs. Oliphant. She often wrote about domestic realism, and historical novels but took to writing supernational fiction in the 1880's. This is a collection of stories that deals with after-death experiences.

Julian was an influential support of Washing University Libraries in St. Louis and the Special Collections there has been renamed the Julian Edison Department of Special Collections.

Nearly all the Alembic Press's books are about, or illustrate, aspects of letterpress printing, type, illustration, or paper and bookbinding. A Small Collections of Fists (1990) shows various sizes and styles of fists that printers have used from early days to draw attention to certain texts. A Small Garden of Flora (1991) shows various printer's flowers from the Alembic Press collection. A Small Farm of Fauna (1992) show various animal letterpress blocks with a loose concern with endangered species. A Foible of Follies (1992) shows typographical blocks that have "proved so far to be of little or no practical use whatsoever." A beautiful set of books sure to please anyone.

A delightful book about a book collector's travels around the world, particularly Scandinavia, London, Paris, Egypt, Jerusalem and Rome, all told from a very humorous perspective. Newton also authored The Amenities of Book-Collecting.

Brown cloth over boards with gilt title on spine and elaborate blind stamping on both covers and spine, some bubbling to the front cover, previous owner's name in ink on front paste-down endpaper, 8 black and white plates with illustrations, foxing to endpapers and page edges, spine ends show a little wear, some corner bumping, otherwise in very good + condition.

As noted on the title page, there were "copious additions by Dr. Philip Ricord, surgeon the the Hopital du Midi, Paris." This is a reprint of an edition by George Babington in 1837, along with the works of Hunter and Ricord. Topics include the origins/modes/forms of the Venereal Poison, Gonorrhea in Women and Men, Veneral Disease, Chancres, Buboes and more.

This little book is a tribute to Sigmund Freud and his thoughts on sex. Naked people cartoon illustrations. First printing under the imprint of Trader's Press in New York from 1967 - 1969, Jack R. Levien then moved to Holland and published under his own name from 1970 - 1972. In those six years, he published 46 miniature books.

Herbert George Wells (1866 - 1946) is often called the "father of science fiction" along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback. A Year of Prophesying is a collection of 55 essays by Wells, written for newspaper columns between 1923 and 1924. An insightful view of early 20th century history.

The three volumes (red, white, and blue) have a different focus: Vol. I, Youth; Vol. II, Lawyer-Politician; Vol. III, President. The primary material for this work came from Lincoln's writings in 1859 and 1860, as well as other sources. Ralph Geoffrey Newman (1911 - 1998) was a well-known Lincoln scholar who owned a bookstore in Chicago, fittingly called the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop.
