The twenty cards are similar to tarot cards and the booklet gives their interpretations and how to use them to read your fortune. Told in the whimsical sense of humor that Gorey is known for, the cards also represent his sense of macabre with examples like "The Bundle", "The Ancestor", "The Burning Head", etc.
