Oxford: The Ashmolean Museum and the National Book League, 1976. 6 x 9 1/4". Color illustrated stiff wraps, slight edge wear, many black and white drawings throughout, photographic frontispiece portrait of J.R.R. Tolkien, near fine condition.

An excellent forward by K. J. Garlick where he writes of the origins of the materials for the exhibition. Also, Baillie Tolkien (a daughter in-law to J.R.R. Tolkien), writes in the introduction about her insight on Tolkien's style as an artist and how much he enjoyed painting but felt he had little talent. Following the introduction is a brief biography and then the wonderful catalog itself, full of excellent bibliographic descriptions. Fairly scarce and a must-have for any Tolkien collector.
