Racine, WI: Whitman Publishing Co., 1938. Approximately 2 1/2 x 3 1/2". Two small books with stiff pictorial wrappers, stapled, tanned pages, back covers show various titles in the crackerjack series, in very good + condition.

The first batch of Cracker Jack (a caramel coated popcorn and peanuts snack) was produced in 1896. It was named by someone sampling the product who remarked "That's a crackerjack!" (a colloquialism meaning "of excellent quality"). The mascots were Sailor Jack and his dog Bingo, who were introduced in approximately 1916. Prizes were included in every box of Cracker Jack since 1912, The early prizes were baseball cards. Early toy suprises included rings, booklets, stickers, temporary tatoos, plastic figurines and more. There have been books written that catalog the prizes and a collector's market still exists for these items.
