Fred Clarke (1921 - 2013), was the brother of Arthur C. Clarke and his personal champion and advocate. He frequently stood in for him at public events. Fred was also the founder of the Clarke family imprint, Rocket Publishing. Diane Peterson was the owner of The Book Lady in the San Francisco Bay Area and was a personal friend of the Clarke family. There is a funny quote in the foreward by Victor Bonham-Carter, "Fred Clarke says he does not pretend to be a poet, and I agree with him; but he likes versifying and that is a happy hobby which will give pleasure to many who will read this litle book, A Song of Somerset."
