Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1974. Approximately 6 1/4 x 9 1/4". Maroon cloth boards, gold lettering on spine, deckled fore-edge, pictorial dust jacket with a price of "C. $5.95" and photo of author on right flap, now housed in a custom clamshell box of black matte with embossed design on left half of front echoing the front of the dust jacket, gilt lettering on spine of box, red cloth edges and black suede interior, all of which makes for a striking presentation. Book has a square, solid text block and strong hinges, no edge wear, overall both book and dust jacket are near fine, there are a few stray minor spots on the cloth boards and a prior owner bookplate pasted onto the front paste down, but without any name, unclipped dust jacket shows minimal edge wear and one tiny white spot on the spine near the tail, two small pieces of magic tape on the inside of the dust jacket. All first issue points are present, first edition stated on the copyright page, "P6" in gutter on last page of text, $5.95 price on jacket.

A first edition of the author's first book, about a teenage outcast and the terrible revenge she inflicts on her classmates. A legendary book that had an approximate first print-run of only 30,000 copies. The novel that started it all.
