London: William Heinemann, [1907]. Approximately 9 1/4 x 11". Limited Deluxe, large paper, first edition of 1100 copies, this being #263. Full green morocco, triple gilt rule border, spine gilt, five raised bands, top edge gilt with elaborate gilt dentelle, 13 full color tipped-in plates on brown thick craft paper and cover guards (one of which is creased and slightly torn), nicely rebound by Birsdall of Northampton and London, original white cloth spine and covers bound in at the rear. Spine darkened, bumped at head with front board just starting to split, some light wear and soiling to leather, light foxing, otherwise very good. (Latimore & Haskell p. 28-29)

First printed as a novel in 1865 by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson), Alice enters a fantastical world by following a white rabbit down a rabbit hole. Interestingly, Dodgson researched the natural history for the animals portrayed in the book and also had other children read it before publication. Includes a "proem" by Austin Dobson. Beautifully illustrated by Arthur Rackham.
