Mario Gianluigi Puzo (1920 - 1999), was an American author, journalist, and screenwriter. Most notably known for publishing The Godfather, Puzo also wrote the screenplay for Superman, Earthquake, and The Cotton Club as well as the screenplays for The Godfather Parts I, II, and III. The Godfather Part I was adapted into fild in 1972 and starred Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone and Al Pacino as Michael Corleone.
