Glasgow: D. Bryce & Son, [ca 1896]. 647 pp. Approximately 3/4 x 1". Red roan wrappers with gilt lettering on cover, minor wear to covers, the words "Savon PEARS Soap" on the rear (referring to the famous soap firm), housed in original silver hallmarked locket with magnifying window to lid, locket has a missing clasp so it swings open freely but is in very good condition, the dictionary is a near fine copy. (Bondy p.107, Garbett p. 26, Welsh 2425)

This famous publishing firm was started in 1832 in Glasgow, Scotland. Although thousands of these dictionaries were issued, according to Bondy they are now becoming quite scarce and are much rarer than the Smallest English Dictionary in the World. This was also the most expensive version of this Midget Series with the lockets.
