Columbus: Follett, Foster and Company, 1860. 268 pp. + 4 pages of advertisements in the front. Approx. 6 1/4 x 9 1/4". First edition but later printing (due to line over publisher's name on copyright page, numeral 2 on the bottom of page 13, and no numeral 2 on page 17). Olive green cloth over boards, stamped design to cover and gilt title to spine, some fading and soiled spots, heavy foxing in the interior, previous owner's name on front paste-down endpaper and some underlining and notes in pencil throughout, otherise, in very good condition.

An important series of political debates in America, through which Lincoln laid out his anti-slavery sentiments. These debates were critical for his successful election, which led to the beginning of the civil war.
