DuPont was founded in 1802 by Éleuthère Irénée du Pont, using capital raised in France and gunpowder machinery imported from France. The product "X-12" was touted as a renewable type of flame retardant. It had a claim of not changing the color, texture or strength of most fabrics and paper and could be reapplied. Numerous illustrations showing how helpful a flame retardant can be on work clothes, hotel room fabrics, paper, etc. No other copies on the market at this time and not in WorldCat.
