Robert Ludlum (1927 - 2001) was an American author of 27 thriller novels, best known for his Jason Bourne character in what was then called the Bourne Trilogy series (although there were ultimately 16 Jason Bourne featured novels). This book is the first in that series and is difficult to find signed as it is only his 12th book overall. The book was adapted to film in 2004 starring Matt Damon as Jason Bourne and Franka Potente as Marie Kreutz. The film only somewhat follows the plot of the book. Interestingly, Ludlum got the idea for the book after having a bout of amnesia himself, one of the major plot points in this novel.
