The Sunbonnet Babies' Book
Chicago, NY & London: Rand, McNally & Co., 1902. 6 x 8 1/4". 105 [1] pp. Tan pictorial cloth over boards, some staining on the cover, some minor stains inside, a slight tear on p. 33, pictorial endpapers with music by H. H. Neidlinger, many colorful illustrations by Bertha L. Corbett throughout, very good condition.
Eulalie Osgood Grover (1873 - 1958) was forn in Mantorville, Minnesota. She created a series of reading primers for young readers featuring two little girls named Mollie and May, whose faces were completely hidden by large sunbonnets. The Sunbonnet Babies Primer was a huge success and was widely accepted in public schools throughout the United states. In 1905, Miss Grover published a second series, The Overall Boys, which introduced little boy characters.
The Toilers of the Sea
New York: Harper and Brothers, [1870's]. 7 x 10 1/2". Brown cloth over boards with beveled edges, frontispiece etching of Victor Hugo is missing tissue guard, 2 illustrations by Gustave Dore have tissue guards intact, some stains and wear to covers, corners bumped and frayed spine ends show wear, minor foxing, good + condition.
American version originally printed in 1867, but this is one of three possible later versions, either 1873, 1875, or 1878 according to their size. (Malan, p.279) Text in two columns. The book is dedicated by Hugo to the island of Guernsey, where he spent 19 years in exile. The novel setting is just after the Napoleonic Wars and portrays the impact of the Industrial Revolution upon the island.
Vintage Tri-Fold Hand-Held Fan
Paris, IL: U.O. Colson Co., [ca. 1930]. 5 x 7". Cardboard tri-fold fan, US Patent 1655229 indicates year of 1927 or later, slight stain to top corner, some wear to tabs, otherwise very good condition.
Beautiful ca 1930's fan which folds out to homestead scene, signed by artist "Stadland". Advertiser on back cover is Osti's Landscape Nursery in Sierra Madred, CA.

New York: Life Magazine New York, [ca. 1950]. 3 1/2 x 4 1/2". Stapled wraps, some wear and creases and bug-related loss to front cover only, rear cover stained, otherwise good condition.
This is a miniature version of the first issue of Life Magazine, (Vol. 1, no. 1), issued as a premium for life magazine subscribers in the 1950's.
How to Get More Fun Out of Watching Football
Dallas: Haggar Corporation, 1965. 3 1/4 x 4 3/4". Pamphlet with blue stiff paper wrap, illustrated cover includes photo of Ara Parseghian, some wear and slight creases, contest entry form at rear is missing, very good condition.
A concise pocket guide on football by Ara Parseghian, 1964 Coach of the Year, University of Notre Dame. Includes a few pages on elementary football game play for the beginner, rule differences in Pro/College/High school football, some football terms, and sample plays. Also includes details of contest (except what the prize was) and an illustrated Haggar Slacks ad.

Series No. 5217 of cards, variously found dated 1905 - 1908. This card depicting two kittens drinking milk from a bowl.
